Carousell - The joy of selling - Item 2

Selling brought me happiness. I was not sure 🤔 was it the thought that things that was supposed to depreciate in value to nothing suddenly became a commodity with value or was it the fun in dealing with people. Somehow a hormone was released that made me happy.

The second item I placed was Science question papers for primary 3 kids. I had 2 sets and wanted to let go of one. I brought one for myself and got another as free when I purchased Math and English set. Asia is a market place for education. Anything that is, was or has the tab of education will sell as hot cake here. I was not apprehensive of this item, but the fact that the final term has started and almost or all parents must be already having one made me wonder if I will ever get a buyer.

Patience is the key to Carousell sales. It can happen any day, some after 2 years even. Just like 1-2-3 my buyer came. I was right, education is always a top priority. Looks like someone did put it for last minute or this must be the second round of revision. And that is how my 20 dollar found its 18 dollar friend.

Carousell - The joy of selling - Item 1

I was introduced to Carousell in the most effective and best of ways since evolution, “everyone had it”. Since it passed Tier 1 and Tier 2 of my intellectual screening, I started using my husbands account. He was quite inactive anyways, and I am pretty convinced the only way to save humanity is by the reduce, reuse and recycle mindset. Thus began a joyful journey of learning.

I was quite unsure which item to start with. After much thought I placed my daughter’s Frozen dress and accessories as my project kick off item. She had worn it hardly once, item was in extremely good condition (soo good in fact it looked brand new) and to top it all, she outgrew it. I forgot how much I brought it for but I placed it for 35 dollars. In my dreams I did not think anyone wanted it. But a buyer came and asked if I was willing to let go at 20. I was, as soon as I got over my surprise.

I met my first customer near the train station next to my house. She was old, must be in her late sixties (I was surprised to know she used this site) and we completed our deal. She looked at the item and said, “its for my granddaughter. She has asked for this as her birthday gift, she will be very excited and happy” At that moment, I did not know what to do should I return the money or should I leave her and walk away. I did not hurt her ego, and walk away is what I did.

Happy birthday girl, hope you liked your dress. I wanted to see how many stories and insights I will make out of selling the items we no longer used. I opened a box and placed my first 20 inside. Hopefully you will get more companions soon.
